Lorenzo Villoresi was born in Florence, Italy in 1956. After secondary school, where he specialized in natural sciences and mathematics, Villoresi enrolled at the University of Florence. Initially, he concentrated in psychology, before deciding to read philosophy and ancient religions at the Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia. Under Professor Francesco Adorno, Villoresi earned his degree in ancient philosophy and biblical philology with a thesis entitled, "The Nature of Man in Ancient Hebrew and Greek Thought." This work was eventually expanded for publication as an essay in the Annali di Filosofia (Firenze: L.S. Olschki, 1989).
As part of his university studies and post-graduate research, Villoresi traveled frequently to the Middle East, where he began collecting precious essences and spices as gifts for family and friends in Italy
In 1990, Villoresi founded the House which bears his name, breathing new life into the lost Renaissance tradition of Florentine perfumery by infusing it with Oriental and modern elements.
One of the most unique aspects of Villoresi's professional activity has been the creation of personal fragrances for individuals, which he developed in an alchemy of art and science that marked the beginning of his career as a perfumer, and for which he gained immediate recognition in Italy and throughout Europ
Villoresi is the author of two books: Il Profumo (Perfume) (1995) and L'Arte del Bagno (The Art of Bathing) (1996). Both volumes were published in Florence by Ponte alle Grazie.
From 1997 to 2001, Villoresi has been the Pitti Immagine consultant for "Fragranze," the first exposition dedicated to artistic perfumery, which is held annually in Florence on the occasion of the Pitti Immagine Casa.
